question grrl by Joe Friday : Reiki is something that can be effectively taught through online or distance learning classes
I’ve been several times by two respected and noted psychic and media reported that should provide a natural healing process. Both advised me to consider teaching Reiki. This is something you can do whatever I want, but I can only find a practitioner in my area, not coaches. I have some courses taught in the manuals or online, but you know, to see something on the ground, I’m hesitant to invest in it. Would I be better to travel to where I can get to face practical training is important Best answer:

response from oldtimekid2
Reiki is really more of a “hands” for what you want of a better term. This is difficult if not impossible to learn from a book or website, and almost always have someone to show you how it geht.Es some Reiki masters are here to be a good place to be near you, or at least work in the right direction directly. Heck, you could probably find some for “Reiki” in Yahoo! answers databases in this section. Good luck and I hope to help!

I ran through the aquarium at an (almost) closed Artis Zoo to make some pictures with long shutter speed and/or movement (which was homework for photography course). I’ll return soon to experiment more with capturing the dreamy movements and colours of the fishes.

I had an appointment in Nijmegen with two really nice fellow volunteers I used to work with at Lokaal Mondiaal. We made tv items together about international issues in local perspective.
We hadn’t seen each other for a long while and had a good time. We laughed a lot, talked about silly subjects like ‘deurdrangers’ and not so silly subjects like relationships.

Question by lynn327: Any classes online or in the central New York area on such things as Wicca, Paranormal studies, etc?
I’m looking for any kinds of classes whether online or in the Central New York area that would be in any kind of paranormal/parapsychology field. Also, any in Wicca, spiritualism, new age, reiki, etc. Any info would be great! Thanks!

Merry Meet,

If you are interested about learning Wicca and/or Witchcraft here are a few legitimate sources to glean knowledge from. One being Witchvox at http://www.witchvox.com/. Here you will gain knowledge through fellowship with other of like mind and knowledge through the countless articles posted. If this is not enough one could look into getting online training through the Sacred Mists at http://www.workingwitches.com/wicca/cour… or OZ Wicca at http://www.ozwicca.com/ , both are pretty decent for learning the Craft on the Web.

Also if you are close enough to a group that specializes in education and development like the SCWF try and join them even if it’s on a limited capacity. Ultimately, study, study and then study some more. Find all you can and definitely cross reference whenever possible, this way you can get the best out of all you learn.

I also suggest that you get your hands on Wicca for Beginners by Thea Sabin and/or The Circle Within by Dianne Sylvan. Both of these books are very good reading and both will give you some deeper insight to the Craft and how it relates to you. Also you cannot go wrong with anything by Scott Cunningham.

If you are a teen, I suggest Elements of Witchcraft: Natural Magick for Teens by Ellen Dugan. Teen Witch by Silver Ravenwolf is also good. But neither are completely accurate, but they will help you out.

Ultimately, study as much as you need to before deciding that you are Wiccan. Find those near you who are reputable and knowledgeable. Also stay away from those who are playing Wicca if you are serious about the religion and the craft, they will only slow you down and/or mislead you. Also, read all the books you can, the good ones as well as the bad ones.

Let you be the one that decides who’s a good or bad author not someone else, because every author in my book has something to offer all you have to do is ignore the information that is not accurate. Oh, and when the opportunity rises cross reference the information learned for accuracy.

I hope my blurp helps out.

Blessed Be

Nyjh

Question by Niecey: I would like to take a Reiki class to attune myself. I am feeling very listless these days.
I have done Reiki level 1 and 2 training in the past and I practice Reiki in all facets of my life.

Best answer:

Answer by loki
If you’re practising Reiki in all facets of your life, it might be worth checking to see if you are committing yourself to ALL aspects of the system of Reiki. You might just find that your practice isn’t as balanced as it might otherwise be.

Ask yourself 5 questions:

1. Do I contemplate Usui’s precepts (Principles) daily and say them to myself when required?

2. Do I spend some time each day using the breathing/meditation activities that were taught as part of my training?

3. Do I give myself “hands-on” treatment time each day?

4. Do I use the symbols and mantras for “hands-on” practice, meditation and during routine activities (like cooking – stiring food, gardening – drawing symbols, getting the kids to sleep – symbols over their hot chocolate and blankets, etc)

5. Did I receive attunements at each level of my training?

These five elements make up the system of Reiki – principles, breathing activities/meditations, “hands-on” work, symbols/mantras and attunements.

Be honest with yourself.

If your answer to one or more of the questions is “NO”, maybe it would be a good idea to work on these areas.

It is also possible that, if Reiki practice is well integrated into your life, you are supposed to be feeling listless right about now – so that when something new and right for you comes along, you’ll be more prepared take it on board.

Can I recommend the book by Frans and Bronwen Stiene (or Steine) called “The Japanese Art of Reiki”.

Question by jag: How can I find a Reiki Master in my area?
Can they help with depression and pain?

Best answer:

Answer by mazy_bird
A good start would be through the International Association of Reiki Professionals: http://www.iarp.org/.

I don’t have personal experience with Reiki for depression or pain. You might try looking to see if there are research studies over at PubMed though.
