Can Reiki be learnt/practiced by just everyone? Or, some people are natural-born as intruments to harness?

the healing energy? Where can one learn it in Mumbai? How long does it take to learn & master different levels? How can I find whether the Master is geniune? Please help….

Yes, Reiki can be learned and practiced by everyone, it is said to utilize universal energy, and if this is so, should be a source available to all. The Reiki system requires an attunement by a master, which is more or less a simple initation ritual. Whether it really opens up your channels for Reiki energy is really debatable, but many spiritualists at least feel a zap. The rest of it is learning symbols (some which are not actually symbols, but words – which many masters don’t even understand icon wink Can Reiki be learnt/practiced by just everyone? Or, some people are natural born as intruments to harness? ), and placing your hands at various areas based on an established spiritual practice. It is actually quite a simple system to learn.

Now, I want to point out that this healing method is widely tossed and turned, especially when it comes to "New Age" interpretations and western thinking. It has become more of a flashy special power these days. According to one source, Reiki isn’t even originally called Reiki. Before you even think about getting into Reiki, research as much as you can about it, everything from its origin, and its history. Even look at the skeptical interpretations of Reiki, and perhaps read up a bit on other forms of "hands on healing." If you find that Reiki fits your personal comprehension and belief, then by all means, go ahead with it. Many people say the whole system is just a placebo, and even I cannot say they are incorrect. You have to know what you are getting into before making a decision.

To answer how long it takes to learn and master, it really does not take that long. Some teachers emphasize waiting a period of time before taking the next level, such as a year, or months, or weeks. Many teachers teach the first two levels of Usui Reiki in as short as a weekend. My personal opinion? Not very long to master! Its an easy system of healing, and you will probably have the symbols down in your memory quicker than one to ten in spanish. Other systems of Reiki, such as Karuna will take more time, but those are optional. Once you are ready for the next level, you should be ready, no one should say you are not except you!

To find a master who is genuine requires a bit of research on your part. You can try asking the master for their lineage (any lack of lineage should arouse your curiousity). And as I have mentioned before, research the healing method, and ask your master plenty of questions. You can find many masters in Mumbai on the internet. Theres also a database on reiki.com of some of them.

Cheers!

I have all my levels in Usui and Karuna Reiki and have spent a bit of time deriving the fictions and truths of healing systems. Also practice it :)

    Some links below:
http://www.reiki.net.au/ – A good source of what appears to be an accurate depiction of Reiki. Goto Reiki information, and read up on some of its link.

http://www.reiki.org/ – the ICRT has a bit of information on Reiki, though some may be incorrect in my opinion. Still, it is probably the number one source where people look for info.

http://www.reiki.com/ – A database of practitioners and masters. I wouldn’t rely on its history though.

Google up whatever you can find about universal energy, chi/ki, etc! If you are serious about Reiki, your own enlightenment will make it work better.
