Reiki is made up of the two words ‘Rei’ and ‘Ki’ meaning ‘Universal’ and ‘Life Force Energy’ respectively and is an ancient Tibetan art of healing. It is a science of palm healing and thus Reiki training is all about learning how to access the infinite energy of the cosmos and channelizing it through your palms on to the body of another for healing purposes.
Reiki Training is the guidance that amateurs in art of palm healing receive by expert Reiki Masters. The power to heal is shifted into the trainee’s palm in a similar manner as the healing technique takes place. Reiki Training cannot and does not take place in schoolrooms or teaching halls but the abilities are transferred through the master’s palms onto the recipients.
Reiki Attunement process occurs when the Master transfers the capability to access energies of the Universe and then utilize it by focusing it on a specific part of another body. This ritual is the essence of the Reiki Training. From here on, the reiki student can control energies through his palms on his own getting better with practice and experience.
There are three principal degrees by which attunement or Reiki Training occurs. In the First Degree, one learns various theories, concepts and understands the idea of Reiki with exposure to the basic hand positions. In the Second Degree, one advances onto learning symbols and how to practice ‘distant healing’. Distant healing allows the apprentice to heal even if they are in different locations.
In the final degree of Reiki training, the recipients are much experienced and gain control over one or more Reiki symbols. Having going through all the three levels, they now become masters themselves with the ability of undertaking Reiki trainings for others not initiated in the art.
Ritualistically, Reiki Training is divided into two segments. The first in which, the student sits in front of the Reiki Master, while the Master procures divine energy through his left palm, gesturing special Reiki symbols on the head of the recipient with his right hand focusing and meditating deeply all this while. This process requires profound concentration.
In the second segment of Reiki Training, the master comes to the front. By stroking, tapping, chanting and the like, the Master focuses on the 3rd eye region and palms of the student. Yet again, he draws symbols, uses hand techniques like tapping when he is deep in meditation. This process is carried out around the 3rd eye region also.
The Reiki Training completes when the Master draws the ”Master Violet’ symbol in his own left palm and taps and strokes to transfers it to the Students right palm. He repeats the process of imagining the ‘Master Violet’, this time in his right palm and then transfers the symbol onto the Student’s left palm. Next he visualizes the ‘Master Violet’ symbol in between the palms of the Student and brings them together gradually giving the palms back to him. Hereafter, the Master bows to the recipient, hereby respecting him for the new capabilities he has received and for who he is, now.
