Does anyone know the differences? Are you aware of Japanese Reiki being called Flaky Reiki due to the alterations to this great energy balancing?
Do you know how to speak the terms /symbols/words correctly. One of my Reiki friends from 10 years ago was telling me to say several things that were basically incorrect according to a recent friend from Japan. Does anyone else have this experience

There are many different schools of Reiki. The most widely known is the Usui Reiki. The discipline around this form was developed by a Japanese priest by name of Usui Mikao. In the Usui school, the symbols and their meanings are considered sacred and are only to be used by a practitioner that has had the correct training. Unfortunately, in Northern America there has been a vaste bastardisation of the original Usui Reiki. This has caused a lot of confusion around the symbols, their meanings and their application.
Evidence of Reiki can be found in sanscrit texts dating back 4,000 years. It has been in existence for a long time. Reiki is thus not dependent on a specific school of thought. It is given to us at conception and can be used for the good of mankind at any time.
The best way to confirm the symbols and knowledge behind the Usui symbols is to consult a reputable Reiki teacher who can prove a link between his / her training and the original Usui school of Reiki.
