I am carrying out an investigation for school on the Placebo effect and paying for our faith etc
absolutely. I have seen the power of personal belief when it comes to healing. Extraordinary things happen when you believe in the power you have over dis-ease. Reiki and other alternative treatments fall into that category. There is a healing energy in the universe that we can all tap into when our strength and belief in ourselves is strong enough to accept it.
To the black and white folks in these posts, do not be so sure that you’re correct. There have been far too many alternative medicine healings to negate the existence of a powerful healing energy in the universe.

I see a alternative healer (reflexologist, reiki , shiatsu etc) and I am very drawn to her and can’t stop thinking about her. Do the same rules apply as in NO DATING? as it does with Conventional doctors and therapists?
Of course the same rules do not apply ….. if they did, their "treatments" would have to undergo scientific testing and the medical approval process mandated by FDA … and the ‘practitioners’ would all have to be licensed ..
I want to learn and practice reiki. Is there anyone that can help me find someone that is a teacher in bahrain?
Try asking in any one of the Ayurvedic centres. I’ve seen one in old Juffair called Kottakal Ayurvedic, and another one in Um-Al-Hassam called the Kingdom Ayurvedic.
As they also practice alternative medicine therapy, they will surely know the persons around who practice Reiki.
Best of luck.
How can one measure the total benefit of a Reiki session?
Of course there is always the immediate effect but sometimes there are huge effects afterwards.
That is of course nothing we know in regular medicine and so one is not used with price-calculation in that sense.
Well, there is one case known of a nun having had a heart transplant and becoming an alcoholic afterwards, and that can of course be seen as a spiritual transformation, which has not been paid for directly.
Please professionals give your advise.
As a fair business practice you should establish either a standard feel or a standard sliding pay scale. In order to establish your fee or fee scale, check to see what is the going rate for Reiki or massage in your area. Do not let people tell you that it is not ok to charge for your time and expertise. If you got good valid training, you spent time and money to become qualified and you are also willing to give of your valuable time.
However, as a Reiki master it is important to be of service in the world and understand that not everyone can afford to pay and to offer either a certain number of time spaces each week open for those who can not pay or a barter/work trade system for those healthy enough. I have had clients pay what they can and put up one poster in a local bulletin board for each $5.00 reduction in cost. I also had a terminal cancer patient who was given 6 months to live and was too ill to work. I served him for free every week for the remaining year and a half of life in addition to offering bedside comfort care to him and his family for the entire final day and night of his life completely without charge. He got an extra year of life, help with his pain and sleeping and spiritual support. My paying clients made it possible for me to afford to offer him that time and service.
How much does it matter where you put your hands during a Reiki treatment? Is there any benefit to using a protocol when you practice?

If you use it to coerce the person into paying for your services later, I guess it’s unethical. From an energetic practicitioner standpoint, while Reiki isn’t the greatest technique, it’s one where you can’t harm the patient (but it can mess up the reiki person). If you want to be a healer and heal people, go right ahead. Doing stuff like this is at the very least a great way to make friends. I went to a (free) event like burning man, where lots of people put on free things to help/entertain other people, and there were some reiki people giving free reike sessions. It worked well, helped some people, and everyone was happy. My only experience was in the woods with some hippies, so I have no idea if that would correlate to you.
So otherwise, the anti alternative medicine people have drawn some interesting positions here.
"If your goal in life is to heal the sick, then do the work – go to medical school. There’s no shortcut."
While I disagree with this statement for a long litany of reasons, it’s nice to see the true position stated directly.
and once again our good friend Kalos comes along!
Hi, if I do something that is harmless and offer it for free, is that bad?
Hi, I’m kalos and I hate alternative medicine, so yes, it’s bad, although I don’t have any basis for saying so since you are neither defrauding people nor hurting them (since it’s all make believe, nothing happens, therefore it also must be harmless).
